MERLINS COAT/Cot Myrddyn

Small World Theatre

e

A show about Merlin.

An astonishing experience of delight and wonder as befits the name of Merlin. Through words and wizard puppetry the performance lifts Merlin out of time but also places him firmly in history but where exactly?

Myrddyn has returned with an urgent prophesy....... Can you guess what it is?

eeeee

His story starts in Carmarthen but his legend travels the world and travels in time..

Merlin’s Coat provides a rare opportunity to see a brand new performance by Small World
Theatre that is innovative, culturally rich and funny. Local hero Merlin, played by a giant
puppet, is assisted by chronosynchlastic (google it!) sub personalities Gwyllt ap Fachen
and Emrys to bring forth his latest prophecy about the state of the world. What will that be?
Following the stars they find a mysterious stone but where is Merlin?
Together the Welsh and English languages weave a tale with sparkling threads of poetry,
history, mythology, wizardry and time travel. Plates spin, Taliesin is born, shadow puppets
play, the worlds turns in a crazy universe where things are getting out of hand. Will the
audience be able to help find a solution?
This performance brings together the talents of Delyth Wyn respected actress and puppeteer
and Bill Hamblett writer, puppeteer and performer.

Prepare to be amazed! “I predict you will love this show”Merlin

Of Merlin and his skill
what region doth not heare
The world shall still be full of
Merlin everywhere
A thousand lingering years
his prophecies have runne
And scarcely shall have end
till time itself is done

Michael Drayton 1622

Are there two Merlin's ? are there more?

The power of poetry, the story of Merlin's friend Taliesin and his bardic fame are explored. Merlin's latest prophesy would surely have to address Global Warming.

Merlin uses a tree analogy while pondering "consequences" In the context of the this time travelling show we can see that our role in combating global warming is not futile. We can't just wait for a magic wand solution to this problem.

Will there be a "grown up" version of this show that explores the darker side of Merlin the grey? I hope so, I am sure there is an audience for it.

Featuring the amazing multi-skilled talents of Delyth Wyn and Bill Hamblett

With heaps of thanks to Toby Downing, Ann Shrosbree and Marion Archer Fry
