Alex Garnet with John Gibbon Trio

Alex Garnet is one heck of a tenor player and one of the most in-demand of UK session players, Alex Garnett is perhaps best known on the jazz scene for his superb work with Ray Gelato’s Giants, but can equally well be found in settings that range from Jools Holland to Van Morrison. The list of international stars Alex has worked with covers the fields of the best of blues and popular music, with Paul Weller, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson and Albert King a fair sample.
Son of acclaimed British sax player, Willie Garnett whom we featured here in February, Alex also started learning the sax at an early age. In his mid 20s (although his boyish looks have resulted in the nickname of "Young Man with the Horn", or the "Young Son") he has made a name for himself on the London jazz scene, and is regularly featured in the 'Echoes of Ellington' big band, and together with Ray fronts "The Tough Tenors". Alex joined the Giants in '96.
