Using his skills as a percussionist and singer, he mixes electronic beats with vocals and world instruments, from a wide variety of different cultures and musical traditions, forming his own unique blend of world music.
Rising to fame in the mid nineties as an early pioneer of ethnic/electro dance music, he released his first album 'Weddings barmitzvahs and funerals' on sony music in 1997... a reflection of his Jewish heritage, Greek and Arab influences and love of of global rhythms.
The album was well acclaimed worldwide, along with Maxs blistering live international performances and dj sets at clubs, venues and festivals. The album enjoyed extensive radio play and both media and television coverage . Max's music went on to be a big hit in Greece, France, Switzerland, Israel, Czech and Holland.
Max has remixed artists such as Robert Miles, Ekova, Simon and Garfunkel, X-Ray Specs and Headmix Collective and has worked with the likes of Nitin Sawney, The Levellers, The Bagdadies and Pavlos Papadakis and son.
After becoming a father in 2001 and with the end of his contract to Sony in 2002, Max has devoted most of his time to raising his daughter, and using his free time to focus mainly on remixing, writing new material, recording traditional ethnic music and his dj work .
The forthcoming album 'Reconstructions', which is due for release June 2006, is a collection of his best remixes and previously unreleased tracks, including collaborations with some of the above artists. Reconstructions, continues the Pashm theme of ethnic/electro fusions incorporating organic world sounds with warm ,funky and hipnotic grooves.
Maxs back catalogue and future releases are all available through Pashm Music on our Elektrikos record label.
Max will begin touring again next spring to promote the new album and is currently taking bookings for live performances and dj sets. He will be featuring Cretan lyra players and other guests for much of his live work and DJ sets can range from uplifting ethnic club dance, to chill out and completely traditional world music , like Klezmer, Greek and Balkan music, as heard in much of Maxs own songs and remixes.
