KILL FOR A SEAT COMEDY CLUB
we are proud to return from the break with headliner Mitch Benn
"Comical musical genius" Tania Shakinovsky, THE DAILY MAIL In 1995, Mitch Benn was voted "Best New Comic" at The Glastonbury Festival. A quintessential moment in his career, Glastonbury (where he has appeared every year since) unsurprisingly has a very special place in his heart. Fitting then, that, after four warm up gigs at Sound in London's Leicester Square, he chose the Glastonbury Festival 2003 to introduce the world to his new band, The Distractions prior to a run at the Edinburgh Festival. "Benn's lyrics are crammed with enough jokes to keep most comedians ticking over for life" THE LIST In the eight years since his Glastonbury debut, Mitch has risen through the comedy ranks to become one of the UK's foremost exponents of comedy song. "Comedian Of The Year" at The Leicester Comedy Festival of 1998, he became a regular on both BBC Radio 4's "Now Show" and BBC Radio 2's "It's Been A Bad Week". Most recently, Radio 4 commissioned his very own radio series - "Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music". This aired to critical acclaim in Feb/Mar 2004 and was repeated in the prime 6.30pm slot during April/May. The BBC have just commissioned a second series, the first episode of which will be recorded at this year's Edinburgh Festival. ""Song after song of exquisitely crafted satire" THE SCOTSMAN
with support from Chris Corcoran
Chris is currently writing series two of ‘Those That Can't' the sitcom series he wrote, performed in and directed with Greg Davies (We Are Klang) for BBC Radio Wales and has just completed filming with Rob Brydon on his documentary ‘Rob Brydon's Identity Crisis' for BBC2/BBC4. Chris has recently co-presented ‘Max Boyce's World Cup Journey' with Welsh Comedy Legend Max Boyce and presented ‘Big Welsh Joke' and ‘Little Welsh Joke' for BBC Wales as well as fronting their Six Nations and Rugby World Cup output. Chris also co presented the first series of BBC Wales' weekly magazine show 'Be...' where he interviewed the likes of Cerys Matthews and Rufus Wainwright. He will be familiar to millions of children (and Mum's!) as the presenter of the cult children's show, Doodle Do on Cbeebies/BBC2 and he was the writer and hilarious voice of Miss Bunny, the Welsh bear on CBBC's live flagship animated show Nelly Nut, both of which were BAFTA nominated. Tiernan Douieb mc
Gigging since 2003 after learning his trade on Dr Oliver Double's stand-up course at the University of Kent, Tiernan is quickly becoming known as a top MC and rising star on the circuit. With his fast paced, energetic style, stupidly unpronounceable name and comedy topics ranging from dancing bears, being diabetic, and sometimes Lionel Ritchie, Tiernan is now gigging all over the UK.
