Who Stole Gilberts Grape
Span Arts present a one off Comedy Special Thursday 27th. September Rhod Gilbert: “Who’s Eaten Gilbert’s Grape?” The Welsh Misery returns! Star of BBC Radio Wales, and ‘Perrier Newcomer’ nominee 2005, Rhod Gilbert takes to the road again with his third solo show. He’s been invited to perform at every major comedy festival in the world and has had total sell-out runs at the Edinburgh festival in 2005& 2006 with previous tour shows. In 2006 he featured in both the ‘Top 50 Comedians’ poll (The Times) and the ‘Top 50 Icons’ (Rough Guide To British Cult Comedy) and has recently appeared on ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ and ‘Mock The Week’. Book early to guarantee disappointment. In his third solo show, Gilbert picks up the story after his Perrier Newcomer Nominated show, ‘1984’: That was about the worst year of his life; then things got worse. Life hadn't passed Gilbert Grape by, it had just taken a slight detour. Rhod Gilbert is convinced that life hasn't passed him by either, although he thinks that when it said it was just popping into the services for a leak, it may have been lying. 'What's eating Gilbert Grape?' was a 1993 movie starring Johnny Depp. 'Who's eaten Gilbert's grape?' is a 2007 show starring Rhod Gilbert. Gilbert Grape lived in Endora in Iowa; Rhod Gilbert lived in Llanbobl, Wales. According to Gilbert Grape, living in Endora was like 'dancing to no music'; living in 'Llanbobl was like 'not dancing to music'. Gilbert Grape looked after his brother; Rhod Gilbert's brother looked after him. Gilbert Grape's mother was so fat she couldn't leave the house; Rhod Gilbert's mother left the house, permanently. Gilbert Grape stayed in Endora and fell in love with a girl called Beccy; Rhod Gilbert left Llanbobl, and....and there the similarities end. Oh hang on, Gilbert grape and Rhod Gilbert both have Gilbert in their names. “Blissful surrealism…laugh out very loud stuff”, «««« Independent “Rhod Gilbert makes me laugh like a pitiless idiot” «««« Scotsman “A master of comic control” «««« Times “Superb…a pure delight” «««« List “You’ ll be laughing yourself silly” «««« Metro Doors open 7.30pm Starts 8pm Tickets from Span Arts 01834 869323 £10 Concessions £9 |
