An evening of relaxed melodic music from a fine group of West Wales musicians. James Campbell is best knownn for his creative ceramics work and gallery in Manorbier but he also plays a fine flugel horn. On piano we have a veteran master of Latin American music - Tony Amoral.

This foursome of West Wales musicians plays a repertoire carefully chosen from the best of the American Songbook, some tunes from France and Brazil and compositions by players such as Horace Silver,  Hank Mobley and Gerry Mulligan. We aim to play accessible music with the accent on melody and swing.

The Quartet consists of :

AJIJO, bass guitar, whose fluent pulse and nimble soloing have made him a fixture with a range of bands from free jazz to afro funk. This quartet setting gives him the space to show what a fine musician he is.

TONY AMARAL, keyboard, from Spain by way of Portugal and Madeira; a very accomplished musician and composer, regularly featured at Cafe Jazz in Cardiff, leading his own trio and with visiting stars like Dick Morrissey, Danny Moss and Alan Skidmore.

CHRIS RYAN, tenor sax and clarinet, whose fluent, driving but sensitive style fits into a wide variety of R&B, big bands and straightahead jazz. He has recently been heard with Saxtet, The Groucho Club, The Dylan Thomas Project and the Steve Waterman Big Band.

JAMES CAMPBELL divides his time between making pots and playing the cornet and flugelhorn. A largely self taught musician, he has played with various jazz/rock, dixieland and mainstream bands including the Dave Price Quintet and Cicada.

James says ' The quartet gives me the opportunity to play tunes that I love with musicians I have an enormous admiration for, and they seem to enjoy it too. ,
