TERRAFOLK

Made a great impression on all the good folk who were clever enough to spot a fab band. Too late to give a proper review of their entertaining performance but here is a poem borrowed from their website:-

This is a Terra warning

Audience be wary

This’ll twist everything on their heads

Be blown away – scalped

Thrashing your eyes

You’re gonna be Terra whooping

Blasted outa the water

And that’s just by their fashion sense!

Dress codes and hair warnings aside

This lot of the lively and the lovely

Are gonna whip you

- Into frenzy

It’s contagious

You’ll be shaken for ages

Hugged up in their jumper of love

Electrified

These Stereo-Folk-Live live in this moment

Three your mind

N’Taka - nother look

You are hooked

And travelling wild with,

What all the world has been watching,

Right here

With their totally unlimited scope

Terra Folk

A Slovenian folk band with a dynamic live presence, we are proud to welcome them for the first time in Wales

"Terrafolk are a world music group from Slovenia with haircuts that look like an advert for a wig shop. Fortunately their musical ability is far better than their fashion sense. They take the popular image of folk music as being boring and twist it on its head. They dominate the room with a mixture of styles from gypsy to classical. If this were not enough they have a playful sense of humour which means each performance is unpredictable. Once you've seen them once you will want to see them again and again."
Metro & ForthOne Festivals.

Terra Folk's roots go back to 1999, when guitarist Danijel and clarinetist Bostjan come back to Slovenia after three months of performing and recording in New Zealand (more). They then meet violinist Bojan, play a virtually spontaneous and improvised gig (Festival Lent) and are soon performing at all the biggest Slovenian festivals and venues. As guest, double-bass supreme Ziga joins the group in March 2001 for live recording of the first CD "Stereo Folk Live".Since then they have gone on to record two more albums. They were a winner of the BBC Radio 3 music awards in 2003. Click below to get a flavour of their fabulous music recorded live.

Success is now following success as reflected by their devoted Europe-wide fanbase.

Since July 1999, they have had over 300 (! and counting !) concerts at festivals, pubs, clubs and events all over Europe - some in front of audiences of over 1000.
