Kill for a Seat is Span Arts' monthly comedy night. It's always busy, lively, friendly and very funny, and we've had some superb comedians here over the years. The evening is all seated with table seating, but it's first come, first served with no table reservations. However, we always make sure that there are enough seats out for everyone.
This month's headliner Smug Roberts has been described as a legend on the comedy circuit. He's been a stand-up comedian since 1995, and since then he's mixed with Manchester's comedy royalty - Caroline Aherne was an early fan, introducing him to his first agent, he's appeared in most if not all of Peter Kay's TV productions, and he even ran Bernard Manning's old club for a while, to the relief of many who were thrilled to see a newer generation of comedians taking over. He also appeared in 24 Hour Party People, and he's had roles in Cutting It, Buried and Cold Feet. So we're thrilled to have him at the Queens Hall nd we're looking forward to seeing his act - " blurring the distinction between comedy and theatre, entertainment and performance." - Edinburgh Evening News (in a rave review of his Fringe show)
Susan Murray takes no prisoners with her irreverent, close to the knuckle and honest humour. She's cynical, razor sharp and very funny, and she's not just a stand-up - she's appeared in theatre and cabaret, with (among many others) that king of the comedy scene Arthur Smith in his West End stage shows.
"She has the mentality of a spiteful 14 yr old boy! Very admirable in a young lady!" Arthur Smith
"I like her jokes so much, I'm doing them now!" Scott Capurro
Compere for the evening will be Nick Page. A hugely likeable host, he turned professional four months after his first open mic appearance, with a little help from Steve Coogan and a BBC Tv show (Escape to the Country).
"a huge dose of likeability with some very clever material" Bath Chronicle.
Tickets for this event are £9 or £7 for Span Arts members and concessions. You can pay over the phone on 01834 869323 between 9.30 and 4pm on weekdays.
