23rd. June Mucho apologies for having to cancel the Midsummer Picnic at Narberth Castle. The weather forecast was so bad on Thursday before that we had to make a decision and most of those involved agreed that it was going to be wet and windy- and it was! So it would not have been a fun day as planned. If you arrived expecting to have a nice day oput - we are very sorry. Hopefully we can try and have a funday there later in the year. Much Ado About Nothing at Lampeter House on 9th. July will not be cancelled whatever the weather so come prepared.
10th. June Kanda Bongo Man gave the packed hall a fantastic dance night and was hauled back for more and more at the end. Shanna with a little help for Eugene did a fine job in keeping up the [ace when the band had left the stage. At present we are making final plans for the castle midsummer picnic and Candido Fabre salsa band from Cuba. To see pictures of the gig click here

We were pleased to bring the blues back to the Queens Hall with Doug Macleod and Virgil & The Accelerators on April 5th. A large audience enjoyed Doug's rambling tales and charming songs, with many dancers on the floor for the storming r'n'b from the Accelerators. 16yr. old Virgil thrilled the guitarists and young ladies in the audience with his good looks and brilliant take on Hendrix tunes. It was good to see several old friends in the audience, including Todd Sharpville and Paul The Hat who took lots of pictures. Paul has remade the Narberth.co.uk website with all new features, blogs and pictures, so please go there and show him that it fulfills a real community service. He is looking for any Narberth related news for the site so if you enjoyerd a show please go and tell!

We launched a new series of Jazz nights in Haverfordwest last night to an enthusiastic audience. It could have gone badly as the star we had advertised, Janusz Carmello unfortunately had a heart attack and was very ill in hospital. Luckily the great saxophonist and big band leader Willie Garnett stepped into the breach and played a lovely set of standards with John Gibbons band.
The new venue at Pembroke House Hotel Haverfordwest, worked very well and I think the series will take off. On April 16th. we will have The Dom Norcross Quartet featuruing the very Stan Getz like tones of this talented Narberth musician. More info here
