Narbeth A Capella Voice Festival Celebrates it’s 10th Birthday!
Narberth has been singing its socks off for 10 glorious years and Span Arts will be celebrating in May.
Originally established to expose the brilliance of a cappella to as wide an audience as possible, Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival has been committed to presenting a programme of exciting and extraordinary performances and singing workshops by highly acclaimed and popular performers for the last 10 years. To begin, the festival lasted just one day and featured only 2 workshops and a performance. After 10 years however, the festival has blossomed into a 3 day event featuring over 250 performers. It is now the most anticipated date on the singing calendar in Wales when the singers of Pembrokeshire come together with a diverse range of talented artists to delight in the uplifting benefits of singing.
“It’s wonderful to see the Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival going from strength to strength. Long may it continue! Congratulations on another diverse programme of concerts and workshops’ London A Cappella Festival
Over the years, the festival has seen impressive headliners including the South African Zulu Male Choir, The Sons of Pitches, Cordydd, The Boxettes, Caryl Parry-Jones, Black Voices, Helen Chadwick and many more. We have experienced singing from South Africa, Mongolio, South America and Europe alongside artists from Wales. We have also inspired local people with workshops and masterclasses with some of the most talented and experience facilitators around.
Narberth A Cappella Festival was founded by a small collection of passionate individuals and the fact that this extraordinary festival still exists 10 years later is testament to the hard work and dedication of a large number of volunteers and enthusiasts and a devoted Festival Committee.
“I have always had a passion for a cappella singing and have always felt that there is never enough a cappella performances around. This is what inspired me and my fellow founders to establish the Narberth A Cappella Festival. Our love of a cappella and of bringing high quality arts and culture to Pembrokeshire has continued to motivate us to deliver a bigger and better festival year after year. ” Co Founder, Molara
The festival has also been seen to captivate a community of its own. We would like to thank all of our volunteers that come forward each year to generously dedicate their time to ensuring the success of the event. This year in particular, we have seen 20 local families happily open up their homes to host performers, making it possible to bring these large scale choirs to Narberth. This ‘Welcome or Croeso’ shows the unique community spirit of the festival. “We can’t thank the volunteers enough for all of their hard work over the years; we couldn’t have done it without you! ” Co Founder, Molara
To celebrate 10 years of singing and to say thank you, NAVF is bringing back a few festival favourites, with a special anniversary performance from The London Bulgarian Choir whilst continuing to showcase new talent with one off performances by the awarding winning Bristol Suspensions and The Portsmouth Gospel Choir and many more.
Join us from Friday the 4th to Sunday the 6th of May for what is set to be an unforgettable and uplifting weekend to celebrate our anniversary and the extraordinary diversity of singing without instruments with over 250 singers making an appearance to mark this special occasion. As ever, in addition to the spectacular performances, the festival features a range of exciting workshops and the chance to take part in a community singing day, fun for all ages and abilities.
