Span Arts’ Theatr Pop-Up Success
Comments
Add +Span Arts launched its brand new Theatr Pop-Up strand on Saturday 14 May at Llanfallteg Hall with Spike Milligan’s Puckoon and it was a huge success!
‘The close proximity was great. Loved all the props and am still in awe of them all. Many thanks for a brilliant evening. It will remain with us forever!’ – Audience feedback.
The Theatr Pop-Up strand forms a core part of Span Arts’ mission to deliver ‘Arts for Everyone’ and aims to bring professional touring theatre to rural venues across Pembrokeshire. This is a unique opportunity for those living in rural areas to engage with the arts and to access high quality theatre in accessible venues.
“We’re really excited about the success of the launch of our new Theatr Pop-Up strand. And couldn’t have picked a better production! People had tears rolling down their cheeks and aching faces. It was great to get people from the community and people travelling from miles around to come and share in Spike Milligan’s crazy genius. “Gwen Watson, Manager at Span Arts.
Span Arts’ Theatr Pop-Up strand will take place for the rest of the year at two month intervals, alternating between Llanfallteg and Llanddewi Velfrey Halls. The next production, The Fabulous Bacon Boys, takes place at Llanddewi Velfrey Hall on Wednesday 6 July.
Told entirely in rhyme and song, Living Spit are back with their hilariously unique spin on “The Three Little Pigs”, The Fabulous Bacon Boys. With porcine puns, lupine laughs and more rural rumbunctiousness than you can shake a stick, straw or brick at, this promises to be a grown up fairy tale you’ll never forget!
Span Arts is also gearing up for its annual open-air Shakespeare production in the beautiful grounds of Lampeter House on Thursday 18 August. This year, to celebrate 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare, The Festival Players Theatre Company will perform the bard’s most famous play, Hamlet.
