Stitching Stories Success
Pwytho Straeon / Stitching Stories is a collaborative work of art which has been stitched, voiced, printed, felted and embellished by the people of the Preseli mountains in North Pembrokeshire.
Over Autumn and Winter 2018-19 residents were invited to record their stories and participate in a series of experimental textile workshops with Artist Nia Lewis, to create a piece of art that represents people’s personal connections to this ancient landscape.
The stories that have emerged show that this is a powerful and important place for locals and incomers alike. A place for work, play, dreaming and sanctuary. People young and old contributed to this fabulous piece of living history which gives a snapshot of life in this remote and unique corner of Wales.
Over 350 people visited the exhibition in Maenclochog Community Hall in February 2019 and the “talking quilt” sparked memories, conversations and chance meetings between long lost friends. The quilt will be going on a tour of the region and may pop up in a community venue near you. For more information contact email@example.com

The project is part of a wider heritage project in the region called Ein Cymdogaeth Werin – Preseli Heartlands Communities, managed by PLANED and funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Great Places scheme.
