Civic Week Childrens Workshops 2005
This group came together via Circus Malarkey who have had a colourful presence at the last few celebrations. All the workshops arranged by Common Ground were oversubscribed and many children who had not booked in advance were disappointed that they could not be included.
The morning workshops in kite making, charcoal drawing and clay modelling were enjoyed by all the children who took part. After a tremendous overnight storm, the tent which had been on hire from a community group in Hermon, was found to be on the ground on Thursday morning, Its fate had been hastened by teenage revellers who had thought it fun to remove the side poles the previous evening.
On Friday Narberth Quilters in the form of the Mayoress and her friend, Janet, taught the basics of the quilters' art to children at Span to conclude the art workshop programme.
The workshops, all
free, were made possible by a grant from the European Union Social Risk
Fund. Span Arts would like to thank Common Ground:- Clea Sharpe, Donna, Ben Clegg, and Malcolm Prout for their marvellous voluntary efforts and all the other workshop leaders who were so good at their job. Special thanks to Saul Baum who co-ordinated the whole thing for Span Arts. |
