We, The Body

SPAN Arts is excited to invite you to join our latest Nature Project – We, The Body. This project combines film, movement and fieldwork in community workshops to explore our relationship with water as a living being that is trying to tell us her stories.

This project is led by three young artists: Hattie Morrison, Leia Morrison, and Angharad Lewis Jones. Hattie is an artist working across writing, film and bookmaking. Leia is a photographer and film-maker based across Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire. Angharad is a physical theatre maker and performance facilitator.

We, The Body has developed from an increased awareness of water scarcity. As hosepipe bans, droughts and wildfires have become an unignorable reality across Wales, this project explores how nature is trying to talk to us and offers space to listen. Movement and language are central to this process, opening up this conversation with the body of water, Llys-Y-Fran Reservoir. You will connect with the water through a gestural, dance-informed workshop and a guided fieldnotes session on site.

The first workshop – Library of Water – takes place on Tuesday the 13^th of October, from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. Join Hattie for a fieldnotes workshop, walking the reservoir and gathering objects and notes on water and its environment. . Both of these sessions are free to attend and take place at Llys-Y-Fran Reservoir. Please book your place at span-arts.org.uk. You do not need to attend both workshops.

In the New Year, at a point of renewal and momentum, the community is invited to look back over this project as we showcase the work created, including the premiere of the Super 8 film. The sharing takes place in SPAN Arts, Narberth on Wednesday the 13^th of January 2027.
